Thank you for visiting my site. Look above in the 'categories' section for WEDDINGS and ENGAGEMENTS or scroll below to see recent postings from my work and life.

My mission is to invite and inspire people to express their authentic selves in ways that will help them feel more beautiful, more confident and more in love.

I love what I do - I get to meet fun amazing people in love and share in their joy of starting a new life together. I get to make people feel comfortable and show them how beautiful they are. I get to laugh, and dance and often share tears of joy with people. I get to make family heirlooms that your children's children will treasure. I love what I do and welcome the opportunity to document your love & your story.

A little background: Before I became a photographer, I helped create video games and focused on the story telling aspects of them - the animated movies. I was also a dancer (salsa!) and am very aware of body dynamics and can help you into natural poses that let your love & beauty shine through. Click HERE to find more about me!

Drop me a comment and let me know what you think - I love hearing from folks!  :) Enjoy life!  Enjoy my site!  Gracias!

Linda & Alex | Hakone Gardens Engagement

She loves yoga & cooking.  He loves video games and all things techie.  They both love to eat out together and be in each other’s company.  Linda and Alex met in high school and it was literally love at first sight.  15 year later they are finally getting married.  When asked why it has taken so long to get married Alex replied, ” It’s that we never rushed into things and if were meant to be together, this day would come and it has.”  Their lives are so incredibly dedicated to each other and their families, it is so great to be around their love and laughter.

We spent an afternoon at the beautiful Hakone Gardens in Saratoga, CA.  Below are a few of my favorites:

Happy New Year | Happy New News

Hello all my awesome friends & family!  It has been way too long since I blogged and reached out to you guys so before January is over, I thought I’d post something.

This past year has been an incredible journey.  I’ve meet and photographed so many amazing brides & grooms, families and individuals  and have been so grateful for each one of those experiences.  And with each time I go out and shoot I learn something about my subject, myself and human nature.  Photography is incredible that way!  I’ve learned a lot and have learned I have so much more to learn – I’m excited of what more is to come!

I feel so grateful for it all:  the hard work, the stress, the joy when my clients see their photos, the little sleep, the new friends I’ve made… everything.  And this new year, just one month in, has already started off rocking my world.

The first thing I want to share with you all is my time in Los Angeles with the incredible Jerry Ghionis.

Not only did I learn so much about photography, business and marketing but I made some incredible life-long friends from that week.  There is just so much to say about my experience there it really deserves a whole post for itself, well, more like 10.  But for now I’ll say that if anyone is at all looking to make photography into a business you NEED to go see Jerry Ghionis.  Not only is he incredible on all levels but all the money raised at his workshops goes toward building an orphanage in Cambodia under his Soul Society non-profit.  This guy is the real deal with a real big open heart!  Cannot say enough great things about Jerry, Melissa (his amazing wonderful awesome gorgeous talented partner and new wife) and all the amazing new friends.  Love you guys!

So here’s my first big news.  I’ll be changing the name of my business very soon.  Inspired by Jerry and many conversations, I’ll be changing my business name to something that is more user-friendly and easy to spell and say.  Ironically, when people say it with the new spelling they end up saying my real name the correct way.  Any guesses? So you might start seeing new spelling for my name soon.  I’m also working with a designer to do my re-branding.  So excited!

Next big news!  I have the incredible honor to have been chosen to speak at WPPI’s Photographers Ignite.  WPPI is the biggest wedding and portrait photography convention held annual in Las Vegas.  Last year over 12,000 photographer attended. Gulp!

Yes, I’ll be speaking in front a mountain full of my peers and mentors.  Excited, nervous, humbled and a little freaking out.  LOL!  Riding high from Jerry’s workshop, I decided on a whim to submit a proposal.  I actually didn’t think I’d get it, yes, I hoped for it but that is something different.  Amongst all the proposals they picked 15 people and I am one of them!  Each of us will speak for 5 minutes.  Exactly 5 minutes.  20 slides, 15 seconds a slide, automatically changing.  So it will be a huge challenge for me and I’ll need to practice, practice, practice, but I’m looking forward to it.  My topic “How to sing like Jerry Ghionis” (yes!  he’s a fabulous singer as well) – Wish me luck!

Another awesome bit of good news is that I was recently informed that I won Wedding Wire‘s Bride’s Choice Awards for 2011.  That means that my studio is ranked in the top 5% of wedding photographers in the nation.  Wow!  I’m excited and honored.  Thank you to my awesome couples for allowing me to capture your awesome memories on your special day.  So grateful!  Gracias!

And if 2011 wasn’t already awesome enough, I’m just about to embark on a whole new amazing journey with the badass photojournalists of Foundation Workshop the people who run Fearless Photographers.  I literally have been waiting for this workshop the entire year.  It sells out every year and I signed up right away when registration opened.  Now I can’t believe it is time to go!  Starting 2 days from now, I’ll be spending a week with pulitzer prize winning photojournalists whose goal is to make wedding photographers better story tellers.  How awesome is that? It will be an intense week of learning, critiques, shooting, no-sleeping, more critiques and growing.  I expect to be broken down and rebuilt stronger, wiser and more creative.  After recovering, I’m excited to use all my new -found knowledge with my clients this year.  Yeah! Can’t wait!

Thank you all for your keeping tabs on me, leaving comments, and following my photography happenings.  I really love and need the support.  Looking forward to a super incredible (bet you thought I was gonna say ‘awesome’) 2011.  Love, Light and many Blessings to you all!

Dave Ball - Love your work!! I know this comment is a year late, but i just stumbled on your website. I had the pleasure of Jerry and Melissa during this year in one of his workshops. I have followed Jerry for the last 3 years and been amazed by his work and passion. It’s amazing how Jerry and Mel can change your outlook on life in 5 days with them. Jerry is one of the most selfless people I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. I would highly encourage any photographer that is half serious about their art to attend a Jerry workshop. Keep up the great work.

Julie - Sounds like an amazing wait to start off 2011! I can’t wait to hear how it all unfolds!

Calvina - here’s to an amazing 2011! it couldn’t have started any better! <3

Rosaura - Gayla! Wishing you all things amazing too in the next year and beyond! Thank you Gayla!

Rosaura - Barbara! Muchisimas gracias, amiga! :) :) :)

Rosaura - Apresh! Thank you so much my friend. Can’t wait to hear how you ‘Jerry’ experience went! Will you be at WPPI?

Gayla - Wow, what great news and lots of it! Wishing you all the best in 2011!

Barbara Yasuhara - Pa’riba Rosie what an amazing way to start off the year! Congrats!

Apresh Chavda - Well done and well deserved my friend! You’ve worked very hard!

fremont engagement photography | susanna & robert

Meet Susanna & Robert.

They are so sweet with each other it is a blessing to be around them.  During our session, they were either giggling, cuddling or just full on cracking up.  Oh, and sometimes sleeping as Susanna had to wake up @ 4am to get hair and makeup done in time for our early session (good practice for the wedding day).  They love to go for bike rides or hikes, snuggle while watching movies, visiting museums, going to bookstores, perusing bike stores, site-seeing and taking pictures, one of Robert’s big hobbies.

I love what they said about themselves as a couple, “We see each other as a “diamond in the rough” and know that we found a treasure in each other.”  Don’t you just love that?!  They are also one of the first couples that I’ve seen to have their own wedding blog.   They are a cool and sweet and savvy couple for sure!

I feel super honored to be their photographer as Robert is very into photography and did lots of research before deciding on me.  I am so excited to shoot their wedding in 2 weeks.  Thank you Susanna and Robert for a great day hanging out at Fremont’s Mission Church.  Can’t wait to see you soon to celebrate on your wedding day!
